Main, Bergen County, Pascack Valley, and Port Jervis line trains all stop at Secaucus Junction. On event days they're easy to spot — just follow the jerseys. Check the departure board for the next one; you don't need a specific train.

NJ Transit 353 from Secaucus Junction
For smaller Meadowlands events that don’t rate a train, NJ Transit runs the 353 bus from Secaucus Junction straight to the sports complex, event days only. Same first leg from Hoboken — you just surface at Secaucus and board a bus instead of a shuttle train.
The Post-Event Crush, Honestly
Getting there is the easy half. When the event ends, a stadium’s worth of people funnels into one rail station, and no schedule survives that. NJ Transit runs shuttles back to Secaucus at least every 15 minutes, load-and-go, for roughly two hours — the system works, it just works slowly under sellout load. Realistic budget from your seat to boarding a Hoboken-bound train at Secaucus: 45–90 minutes after a big game.
Two ways to beat it: leave a few minutes before the end (you know if you’re that person), or embrace the wait — let the first surge clear, and walk on to a calmer train twenty minutes later. Game-Day Tips
- MetLife enforces a clear-bag policy and offers no bag check. Whatever you carry onto the train has to be stadium-legal, or you'll be walking it back to a locker that doesn't exist.
- Leave more buffer than the ride time suggests. A pre-event crush at Secaucus can mean watching a full shuttle or two leave before you squeeze on.
- On the way home, don't sprint for the first shuttle. Trains run load-and-go for about two hours after the final whistle; the 20 minutes you'd spend being compressed into car one buys a calmer ride two trains later.
- Buy your return before you leave Hoboken. You need a valid ticket to board at Meadowlands, and the post-event lines at the machines are the stuff of cautionary tales.
- Check whether your event is big enough for rail but small enough for sanity — mid-size events get the 353 bus from Secaucus instead, which is a perfectly decent ride.
- Driving instead? MetLife parking generally requires an advance permit on event days and the approach roads jam badly. The train exists because of those roads.
